Prescribed Burns Planned in NE California, NW Nevada
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), in coordination with the U.S. Wildland Fire Service, has announced plans to conduct prescribed burns in northeastern California and northwestern Nevada. These controlled burns aim to reduce hazardous fuels and mitigate wildfire risks in the region. The operations are set to begin as early as October 1 and will continue through the fall, winter, and spring, depending on weather conditions. Targeted areas include Modoc County, northern Washoe County, northeastern Lassen County, northeastern Shasta County, and northeastern Siskiyou County. Residents in nearby communities such as Madeline, Likely, Alturas, Fort Bidwell, Cedarville, Fall River Mills, Tulelake, Dorris, and Macdoel, as well as motorists in the Vya area of Nevada, may notice visible smoke during these activities.
