Andrea Suarez, founder of the nonprofit We Heart Seattle, is defending her organization against a Washington State Department of Labor & Industries investigation and public scrutiny regarding its finances and operational transparency. The state opened two inspections following a complaint alleging improper handling of hypodermic needles and fentanyl paraphernalia by We Heart Seattle volunteers.
