Beverly Hills Police Pursuit Ends in Crash and SWAT Standoff
A police pursuit in Beverly Hills escalated into a standoff involving a SWAT team on Sunday evening. The incident began when Beverly Hills police attempted to stop a suspect driving a gray Ford pickup truck. The vehicle was linked to a felony investigation through an automated license plate recognition alert. The pursuit started around 1:30 p.m. near Beverly and San Vicente boulevards, a busy area close to the Beverly Center shopping mall and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The chase concluded when the suspect's truck collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Robertson Boulevard and Burton Way. Following the crash, the suspect refused to exit the vehicle, prompting a standoff with law enforcement. Traffic in the area was heavily affected as officers, including an L.A. County Sheriff's Department SWAT team, worked to negotiate the suspect's surrender.
