Rosario Dawson Mourns Slain Alphabet City Bodega Worker, Highlighting Community Loss
Actress Rosario Dawson has expressed her sorrow over the death of Abdul Saleh, a beloved worker at Sal’s Deli and Grocery in Alphabet City, New York. Saleh, a 28-year-old father of two, was fatally shot outside his family’s bodega following a confrontation with Kavone Horton, who has a history of theft and menacing behavior at the store. Horton, 28, has been charged with murder, manslaughter, and weapons possession. Dawson, who grew up in the neighborhood and frequented the deli since childhood, shared her condolences on social media, describing Saleh as a sweet and beloved community member. She also noted Saleh's previous efforts to advocate for safety measures in bodegas, such as panic buttons, through the United Bodegas of America campaign.
