Study Links Excessive Napping in Older Adults to Higher Mortality Risk
A new study has found that certain nap patterns in older adults may be linked to higher mortality rates. Conducted by researchers in the U.S., the study suggests that frequent daytime naps, particularly in the morning, are associated with increased mortality risk. Each additional hour of napping per day was linked to a 13% higher risk of death, while each extra nap increased the risk by 7%. The study highlights that excessive napping could indicate underlying health issues such as chronic conditions or sleep disturbances.
