UNC5B Signaling Identified as Key Driver in Pancreatic Cancer Metastasis
Recent research has identified the UNC5B receptor as a significant factor in the progression of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), a type of pancreatic cancer. The study, conducted using genetically engineered mouse models, demonstrated that UNC5B is highly expressed in PDAC and plays a crucial role in the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), a process that facilitates cancer metastasis. The research highlights the potential of NP137, an antibody drug that inhibits the Netrin-1/UNC5B interaction, as a therapeutic option to prevent EMT and metastasis in PDAC. This discovery opens up new avenues for clinical trials aimed at testing the efficacy of NP137 in human pancreatic cancer patients.
