Riverside Fire Department Responds to Major Apartment Complex Blaze Displacing 150 Residents
A significant fire erupted at the University Riverside Gardens apartment complex in Riverside, California, leading to the evacuation of two buildings and displacing approximately 150 residents. The fire, reported around 11:13 a.m., is believed to have started accidentally due to a contractor using a blowtorch for plumbing repairs, which ignited a fire behind a wall. The flames spread to the attic and eventually burst through the roof. Firefighters, including 100 personnel and 25 engines, worked to control the blaze, which resulted in the building being considered a total loss. No injuries were reported, and all residents have been accounted for, with some pets rescued. Many of the displaced residents are students preparing for final exams, adding to the stress of the situation.
