SpaceX Secures $4 Billion Space Force Contract for Global Airborne Threat Tracking
SpaceX has been awarded a $4 billion contract by the U.S. Space Force to develop a satellite constellation under the Space-Based Airborne Moving Target Indicator (SB-AMTI) program. This initiative aims to enhance the military's ability to track airborne threats globally, particularly in areas where aircraft tracking is risky. The contract, announced on May 29, marks a strategic shift towards integrating space-based sensors with secure communication and ground data processing technologies. The program is expected to be operational by 2028, reflecting a deeper collaboration between contractors, research labs, and government agencies.
