Zelensky Raises Concerns Over U.S.-Russia Economic Deals Amid Ukraine Conflict
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed concerns over potential economic agreements between the United States and Russia, which could impact Ukraine. These discussions, reportedly worth $12 trillion, include a framework for U.S.-Russian economic cooperation, known as the 'Dmitriev package.' This package, named after Kirill Dmitriev, a key figure in the negotiations, outlines plans for lifting sanctions and fostering economic development between Russia and Ukraine. President Trump has previously suggested sanctions relief as an incentive for Russia to cease its military actions in Ukraine. However, Zelensky, supported by European leaders and some U.S. Congress members, insists on tightening sanctions to weaken Russia's military capabilities. The talks, which have not yet reached a resolution, are part of ongoing efforts to end the conflict in Ukraine, with the U.S. proposing a deadline for resolution by June.
