Buffalo AKG Art Museum Promotes Internal Leaders to Co-Directorship Roles
The Buffalo AKG Art Museum in New York has announced a new leadership structure by promoting two of its internal members to co-directorship roles. Jillian Jones, previously the deputy director, will assume the position of executive director, while Cathleen Chaffee, the chief curator, will become the artistic director. This decision follows the departure of Janne Sirén, who has served as the museum's director for 13 years. The new leadership model is designed to leverage the strengths of both individuals, who have been with the museum since 2014 and 2015, respectively. The museum, which recently underwent a $230 million renovation, aims to continue its growth and enhance its operational and artistic capabilities under this dual leadership.
