Harrell Wilson Secures Republican Nomination for Arkansas Senate District 1 Special Election
Harrell Wilson has won the Republican primary for Arkansas Senate District 1, defeating Laura “Missy” Wardlaw with 3,111 votes to Wardlaw's 1,679. Wilson, who serves as president of the Cleveland County School Board and operates a family-owned hardwood sawmill and timber business, emphasized economic development, rural industries, and issues pertinent to Southeast Arkansas during his campaign. He received endorsements from prominent state figures, including Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Lieutenant Governor Leslie Rutledge, and Attorney General Tim Griffin. Wilson will now advance to the special general election on November 3, where he will face Eudora Mayor Tomeka Butler, the sole Democratic candidate. The winner of this election will serve the remainder of former Senator Ben Gilmore’s term, which is set to conclude in January 2029.
