Overland Park Halloween Display Raises Funds for Local Food Banks
An Overland Park resident, Daniel Taber, along with his family, has created an elaborate Halloween display featuring over 370 carved pumpkins. The display, located near 124th Terrace and Nieman Road, showcases a variety of pop culture themes, including Hello Kitty, Barbie, Minecraft, and Ghostbusters. This annual tradition, which began 16 years ago with just two pumpkins, has grown into a community attraction, drawing dozens of visitors on weekdays and hundreds on weekends. Beyond providing entertainment, the Taber family uses the display as a platform to collect donations for local food banks. Since 2020, they have been supporting Harvesters, a community food network serving the Kansas City region. Last year, their efforts raised $1,800, and this year, they are on track to surpass that amount, having already collected nearly $1,000.
