Advanced Manufacturing Enhances Military Readiness at CJLOTS 26 in South Korea
During the Combined Joint Logistics Over-the-Shore 26 (CJLOTS 26) exercise in Pohang, South Korea, U.S. Marines demonstrated advanced manufacturing capabilities by 3D printing a replacement part for a U.S. Coast Guard vessel. This exercise, involving U.S. and Republic of Korea forces, focused on transferring personnel and equipment from sea to shore. The Marines used expeditionary fabrication systems to produce the part, significantly reducing the time and cost compared to traditional supply methods. This capability allowed the Coast Guard to continue its operations without delay, showcasing the potential of 3D printing in military logistics.
