New Orleans City Council Mandates Single Billing for Community Solar Customers
The New Orleans City Council has unanimously approved new rules requiring Entergy New Orleans to issue a single, consolidated electricity bill for community solar customers. This decision, which follows years of debate, mandates that Entergy integrate credits from off-site solar projects directly onto customers' bills by March 31. Previously, community solar participants received two separate bills: one from the solar farm for their subscription fee and another from Entergy for their electricity usage. Critics argued this dual-billing system made it difficult for customers, particularly low- and moderate-income households, to track their savings and created administrative burdens.
