Winds Clear Smoke in Seattle, Raise Fire Risks in Eastern Washington
A stronger marine push is clearing wildfire smoke from Western Washington, including Seattle, as of August 6, 2026. Air quality in the region is improving, with areas like Puget Sound showing moderate to good conditions. However, the same winds are increasing fire risks in Central and Eastern Washington. A Red Flag Warning has been issued for areas such as Spokane, the Columbia Basin, and northern Central Washington, where wind gusts of 20-30 mph and low humidity levels (8-30%) are expected. While this event is less severe than last week’s historic fire weather, conditions remain dangerous for new and existing wildfires.
