EU Sees 30% Increase in Battery-Only Electric Car Registrations in 2025
In 2025, the European Union experienced a significant increase in the registration of battery-only electric passenger cars, with a 29.7% rise compared to the previous year. This rebound follows a decline in 2024 and brings the total number of such vehicles to 7.59 million. The growth in electric vehicle registrations is part of a broader trend towards more sustainable transportation options, with plug-in hybrids also seeing a substantial increase. Conversely, registrations for traditional fuel vehicles, such as diesel and petrol, have declined significantly, indicating a shift in consumer preferences and regulatory influences towards greener alternatives.
