South Africa's Tourism Sector Sees Surge with 5.58 Million Visitors in First Half of 2026
South Africa has experienced a significant increase in international tourism, welcoming 5.58 million visitors in the first half of 2026. This marks a 12.3% rise compared to the same period last year, driven primarily by a 14.3% increase in arrivals from African countries. The growth underscores the importance of regional travel and air connectivity in Africa's tourism industry. The United States remains South Africa's largest overseas source market, with 40,566 American visitors in June alone. Tourism Minister Patricia de Lille attributes this success to diversified tourism offerings and strengthened partnerships with industry stakeholders.
