China's Railway System Sets New Daily Passenger Record During National Day Holiday
China's railway system recorded a new daily passenger record on October 1, the first day of its week-long National Day holiday, with over 25 million travelers. This figure represents a 9% increase compared to the same day last year, according to China State Railway Group. The country anticipates approximately 284 million railway passenger trips throughout the holiday period. Additionally, over 2 billion domestic trips are expected to be made using various modes of transport nationwide, averaging around 300 million trips per day. Air travel is also projected to be high, with an estimated 2.4 million passengers daily. International flight bookings for the holiday have seen a 22.5% increase, with reservations for nearby countries like Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Laos rising by 20%.
