Marie Lamfrom Charitable Foundation Expands Philanthropic Efforts Across Oregon
The Marie Lamfrom Charitable Foundation, founded in 1998 by Sally Bany and her late husband David, has significantly expanded its philanthropic activities across Oregon. The foundation, which is part of the Columbia Sportswear family legacy, has grown its assets to $375 million and distributed $20.4 million in 2024 alone. The foundation focuses on a broad range of areas including education, food security, housing, and community development. It operates with a lean staff and a family board, emphasizing trust in local nonprofits to address community needs. The foundation's growth was bolstered by a substantial bequest from Gert Boyle, Sally Bany's mother, which allowed for increased grantmaking and the hiring of Tyler Hobbs as the foundation's first full-time president.
