World Food Movement Expands Efforts to Address College Student Food Insecurity in the U.S.
The World Food Movement, inspired by the Akshaya Patra Foundation, has been actively addressing food insecurity among college students in the United States. Since 2025, the organization has provided over 75,000 meals to students across various states, including New York, New Jersey, Texas, Massachusetts, Virginia, and California. The initiative focuses on delivering hot, nutritious vegetarian meals and weekend nutrition kits to students facing food insecurity. This effort marks a significant shift from the organization's original focus on global food insecurity, particularly in famine-stricken regions of Asia and war-torn areas like Ukraine and Syria. The program has been well-received by students, with many expressing gratitude for the support that helps them manage their educational and living expenses.
