Unfoonk Released on Parole After Violating YSL RICO Plea Deal
Quantavious Grier, known as the rapper Unfoonk and older brother of Young Thug, has been released on parole from Macon State Prison. This release follows a nine-year sentence he received for violating the terms of his guilty plea in the YSL RICO case. In 2022, Grier initially accepted a plea deal that resulted in a 12-year sentence, commuted to time served and ten years of probation. Conditions of this plea included a curfew and a prohibition on contacting his brother. However, Grier was arrested in 2023 by plainclothes officers who suspected a drug deal. He was pulled over for a tinted window violation, and authorities reported smelling marijuana and spotting a gun. Grier was subsequently charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and association with a criminal gang for illegal activity, leading to his nine-year and six-month sentence for violating his plea deal. He had previously served over eight years in prison between 2010 and 2019 for an unrelated charge.
