Ethiopian Airlines Expands Fleet with Six More Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners to Boost Long-Haul Routes
Ethiopian Airlines has announced the purchase of six additional Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner jets, increasing its total order to 26. This decision follows a previous acquisition of 20 jets, with nine acquired in January. The new aircraft are expected to be delivered starting in 2028, supporting the airline's expansion on long-haul routes to Africa, the US, Europe, and Asia. The airline is also investing $12.5 billion in constructing Africa's largest airport in Bishoftu, aiming for a capacity of 60 million passengers by 2030. This expansion is part of Ethiopian Airlines' strategy to modernize its fleet and enhance its presence in both regional and international markets.
