Coastal Storm Raises Rip Current Risk in Southeast
Severe storms and flash flooding will threaten the Gulf Coast and Southeast from Tuesday into midweek, with heavy rain targeting Alabama, Georgia and much of Florida. Strong winds and repeated downpours could cause localized flooding, while a developing non-tropical coastal storm off the Carolinas may trigger rough surf, beach erosion and dangerous rip currents through Wednesday. Forecasters say tropical moisture will continue fueling storms as the Atlantic hurricane season begins.
