Congresswoman Deborah Ross Hosts Forum on Fair Royalties for Musicians
North Carolina Congresswoman Deborah Ross is set to host a virtual forum titled 'Our Seat at the Table' on August 6th at 2:00 PM EST. The event is organized in collaboration with ten influential music rights advocacy groups, including the American Association of Independent Music (A2IM) and the Songwriters of North America (SONA). The forum aims to address the challenges faced by artists, songwriters, and independent record labels in the evolving streaming and AI economy. A key focus will be the Protect Working Musicians Act of 2026 (PWMA), recently introduced by Rep. Ross. This legislation seeks to empower music creators and small business owners by allowing them to negotiate collectively with large streaming companies and AI developers, thereby ensuring fair royalty payments.
