Crystal Bridges Museum Expands to Enhance Art and Wellness Programs
The Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas, has completed a significant expansion, adding 114,000 square feet to its existing space. This expansion, designed by Safdie Architects, increases the museum's capacity by 50%, allowing for more extensive art-and-wellness programming. The new space includes galleries for artists like Mary Cassatt and Theaster Gates, ceramics and digital-art studios, and a community lounge. The museum's expansion is a response to increased visitor numbers and a growing collection, particularly in craft and Indigenous art. The museum aims to provide greater access to art, with attendance surpassing 800,000 last year.
