Evacuations Ordered as Wildfires Spread in Southern California
Two wildfires have erupted in Southern California, marking the first significant burns of the season amid a major heatwave. The Springs fire in Riverside County has expanded to 4,127 acres, prompting evacuation orders as it threatens areas north and east of Lake Perris. The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph, contributing to the rapid spread of the fires. The Crown fire in Los Angeles County, covering 260 acres, has also led to evacuations in Acton. Firefighting efforts include helicopters, fire trucks, and personnel working to contain the blazes, which are currently 10% and 25% contained, respectively.
