Austin City Manager T.C. Broadnax has issued a memo granting the city's Development Services Department expanded authority over the development process. This change includes giving the Development Services Director, Keith Mars, the final say in disputes between departments regarding the interpretation and application of development-related rules. Additionally, some review functions previously handled by the Watershed Protection and Parks and Recreation Departments will be transferred to Development Services.
