New Quantum Encryption Method Enhances Data Security
Researchers at UC Santa Barbara and UCLA have developed a new quantum encryption method that prevents ciphertext from being cloned. This advancement leverages the no-cloning theorem of quantum physics, which states that it is impossible to create an identical copy of an unknown quantum state. The method involves encrypting a one-bit message into a quantum ciphertext using a secret digital key. This approach prevents attackers from intercepting and splitting the data between accomplices, as any attempt to do so would disturb the information, making it unreadable.
