Asia-Pacific Region Shows Strongest Improvement in Tourism Readiness for 2026
The Asia-Pacific region has demonstrated the most significant regional improvement in tourism readiness, with its average Travel & Tourism Development Index (TTDI) score increasing by 3.6% between 2024 and 2026. This assessment, conducted by the World Economic Forum, evaluates conditions that foster sustainable and resilient tourism, rather than solely focusing on visitor numbers or revenue. Japan leads globally as the most tourism-ready economy, followed by Australia in fourth place and China in eighth. Other highly prepared destinations in the region include South Korea and Singapore, recognized for their advanced transport networks, digital infrastructure, safety standards, and strong business environments.
