International Organization for Migration Expands Mental Health Support in Ukraine Amid Crisis
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is intensifying its efforts to provide mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) in Ukraine, addressing the increased needs arising from the ongoing humanitarian crisis. Established in 1951, IOM is a leading UN agency focused on migration, working with various partners to promote humane and orderly migration. In response to the distressing conditions exacerbated by the war in Ukraine, IOM is implementing a comprehensive community-based MHPSS approach. This initiative aims to enhance community and family resilience, particularly supporting vulnerable groups affected by the crisis. The program involves psychosocial mobile teams that offer community-based services, making them accessible to those who may have difficulty reaching facilities, such as women, persons with disabilities, and older adults.
