Air Quality Alert Issued in Yakima and Tri-Cities Due to Wildfire Smoke

The alert, issued by the Washington State Department of Ecology, Benton Clean Air Agency, and Yakima Regional Clean Air Agency, warns that air quality may reach unhealthy levels. Residents are advised to limit outdoor activities, especially those with heart or lung conditions, as pollutants in the smoke can cause health issues such as burning eyes and aggravated respiratory problems. The alert will remain in effect until further notice as authorities monitor the situation.
