Imperial County Office of Education Hosts Sixth Annual Autumn and the Arts, Showcasing Student Talent
The Imperial County Office of Education (ICOE), in collaboration with the Foundation for Education, hosted its sixth annual Autumn and the Arts celebration and auction. The event showcased artwork created by students from across the Imperial Valley, ranging from sixth to twelfth grade. The celebration included dinner, entertainment, keynote speeches, and both live and silent auctions for student-produced paintings, sculptures, and photography. Approximately 200 community members attended, with all art pieces receiving at least one bid. All proceeds from the auction will be awarded directly to the students in the form of Foundation for Education scholarships. Karissa Ruiz Ovando, a Southwest High School graduate, was recognized for her animation titled “I Am Seen,” which won first place in a state wellness competition and aims to raise awareness for suicide prevention and mental health. Ruiz received a $500 Foundation for Education scholarship for her efforts.
