Virginia State University Student Charged After Campus Shooting Suspect Found Hiding in Dorm
A 19-year-old Virginia State University (VSU) student, Ja’niah Johnson of Glen Burnie, Maryland, has been charged with obstruction and being an accessory after a campus shooting suspect was found hiding in her dorm room closet. The suspect, Camron Harris of Henrico County, Virginia, who is not a VSU student, was arrested on Saturday following a shooting that occurred just after 1:30 a.m. near the university’s Quad Annexes. Five individuals sustained gunshot wounds, with one 21-year-old remaining in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. One of the injured, a 20-year-old VSU student, has been released from the hospital. Johnson turned herself in to police on Wednesday after being contacted by authorities, appeared in court, and was subsequently released on her own recognizance.
