New York City Launches 'ADU for You' Platform to Assist Homeowners with New Dwelling Unit Rules
New York City has introduced 'ADU for You,' a digital platform designed to help homeowners navigate the city's new ancillary dwelling unit (ADU) regulations. Developed by WXY architecture + urban design, the platform provides answers to zoning, code, and feasibility questions, making it easier for property owners to understand and implement ADU projects. A key feature of the platform is the Pre-Approved Plan Library, which includes agency-reviewed backyard cottage designs sourced from architecture firms nationwide. The platform also offers tools for homeowners to check eligibility, test plan fit, estimate costs and rental income, and manage permitting and construction processes. Additionally, the city is reopening applications for the Plus One ADU program, providing financial and technical assistance to qualified homeowners.
