Representative Kathy Castor Secures $850,000 Federal Funding for Tampa Bay Ferry Permanent Dock
U.S. Representative Kathy Castor announced that $850,000 in federal funding has been secured for the construction of a permanent dock for the Tampa Bay Ferry. This funding will contribute to the dock's estimated $3 million cost. The permanent dock is planned for the St. Pete Pier, near the Museum of History, and is currently in its design phase. In the interim, a temporary dock is being constructed along Bayshore Drive, expected to be completed by late September or October. The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) recently acquired two vessels for the ferry service, which will operate between Tampa and St. Pete. According to Representative Castor, this initiative is a crucial step in a broader effort to alleviate traffic congestion and reduce commuting costs for residents. PSTA aims to have passengers utilizing the ferry service by the end of the year.
