CATO and ATIA Present Merger Proposal to Members in Roadshow
The Council of Australian Tour Operators (CATO) and the Australian Travel Industry Association (ATIA) have conducted a series of face-to-face Q&A sessions in Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne to discuss their proposed merger. The sessions, attended by 10-15 members each, focused on membership fees, accreditation, and support for smaller members. The merger aims to create a single, peak industry body for Australia's travel agents, tour operators, wholesalers, and travel management companies. The final member information session is scheduled online before the vote on June 9. If approved, CATO will become a division within ATIA, and Dennis Bunnik will step down after 14 years on the board.
