Anthropic Implements Global Watermarking for Claude AI-Generated Text and Images
Anthropic has introduced a new global watermarking system for content generated by its Claude AI models. This initiative stems from Anthropic's commitment to transparency under Article 50(2) of the European Union Artificial Intelligence Act. The system embeds invisible, machine-readable watermarks directly into text content produced by Claude, ensuring the mark persists even when text is copied and pasted. Additionally, signed provenance metadata will be attached to supported image formats like .svg, .png, and .jpg. This watermarking applies to outputs from the Claude Platform (API), Claude, Claude Code, Claude Cowork, and Claude Tag, as well as when Claude models are accessed through AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Foundry.
