Crowley Mariners Honored with Gallant Ship Award for Heroic Actions
Crowley mariners aboard the U.S.-flagged tanker Stena Immaculate received the U.S. Maritime Administration’s Gallant Ship Award during the National Maritime Day observance in Washington, D.C. This prestigious award was given in recognition of the crew's exceptional professionalism and bravery during a collision in the North Sea on March 10, 2025. The tanker, managed by Crowley in partnership with Stena Bulk AB, was struck by another vessel while anchored off the coast of Hull, United Kingdom. Despite the significant danger, the 23-member crew coordinated a safe evacuation, preventing serious injuries and mitigating potential environmental damage. The tanker was transporting jet fuel under charter to the U.S. Navy’s Military Sealift Command and was part of MARAD’s Tanker Security Program.
