Elk County Partners with St. Marys High School to Produce U.S. Flag Coins for 250th Anniversary
In celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States, a collaborative effort in Elk County, Pennsylvania, is producing 30,000 U.S. Flag Coins. This initiative involves St. Marys Area High School's Dutch Manufacturing students, the Community Education Center of Elk and Cameron Counties, and artist John Schlimm, in partnership with the Elk County Commissioners. The coins, made of powdered metal, will be distributed for free across Elk County throughout 2026. The project highlights the skills of local students in advanced manufacturing and aims to provide a tangible keepsake of the nation's founding. The coins are part of a broader effort to engage the community in celebrating the country's semiquincentennial.
