Basic-Fit Data Breach Exposes Personal Information of 200,000 Members in the Netherlands
Basic-Fit, Europe's largest budget fitness chain, has reported a data breach affecting members across multiple countries, with approximately 200,000 members in the Netherlands impacted. The breach exposed personal information including names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, and bank account details. However, no passwords or identity documents were accessed. The Dutch Data Protection Authority has been notified of the incident. The breach targeted the system used to register member visits to fitness clubs, which logs access through turnstiles at each location. Basic-Fit operates over 1,300 clubs in seven European countries, including the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Spain, Germany, and Austria.
