Heavy Rain Threatens Flash Flooding in New York City Region
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued warnings for heavy rain and thunderstorms across the New York City region on Monday, August 3, 2026. Rainfall is expected to range from 0.5 to 2 inches, with isolated areas potentially receiving higher amounts. Flash flooding is a significant risk, particularly in low-lying areas, places with poor drainage, and along small streams. Flood Watches are in effect for northeastern and central New Jersey. This follows last week's storms, which caused flooding in parts of Staten Island, northern New Jersey, and the lower Hudson Valley.
