Deschutes Commissioner Patti Adair Secures Republican Nomination for Oregon's 5th Congressional District
Deschutes County Commissioner Patti Adair has emerged as the Republican nominee to challenge incumbent Democratic U.S. Representative Janelle Bynum for Oregon's 5th Congressional District in the upcoming November elections. Adair, who has been a commissioner since 2019 and a supporter of President Trump, secured nearly 57% of the vote in the Republican primary, defeating her opponent Jonathon Lockwood. Bynum, who is seeking re-election, won her Democratic primary with 84% of the vote against challenger Zeva Rosenbaum. The district, known for its competitive nature, spans from southeastern Portland suburbs to Bend, Oregon. Adair aims to flip the district, which has a higher number of registered Democrats than Republicans, and is rated as 'likely Democratic' by the Cook Political Report.
