New York Driver Captures Meteor on Dashcam During Fishing Trip
Dan Wilcox, a driver from Rome, New York, inadvertently captured footage of a meteor while on his way to the Erie Canal for a fishing trip. The meteor, which entered Earth's atmosphere near the Massachusetts and New Hampshire border, was part of a larger event observed across the Northeast. The American Meteor Society confirmed the footage as part of this event, noting that the meteor was visible from Maine to Delaware. Wilcox's dashcam recorded the bright fireball streaking across the sky, although he did not immediately realize he had captured the event. The meteor exploded off the coast of Massachusetts, creating a sonic boom felt from Delaware to Montreal.
