Senators Smith and Klobuchar Celebrate Groundbreaking of Blatnik Bridge Replacement Project
U.S. Senators Tina Smith and Amy Klobuchar, both Democrats from Minnesota, celebrated the groundbreaking of the Blatnik Bridge replacement project. This significant infrastructure initiative follows their successful efforts in securing federal funding for the bridge through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and advocating for the release of these funds to commence construction. The Blatnik Bridge is a vital connection between Duluth, Minnesota, and Superior, Wisconsin, facilitating the movement of approximately 33,000 vehicles daily and an estimated $3.7 billion in goods annually. The existing bridge, which has been in service for over 60 years, is in critical need of replacement. The new bridge is projected to be completed by 2031.
