UN Women and UNFPA Enhance Iraqi Women Parliamentarians' Legislative and Digital Safety Skills
UN Women and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), in collaboration with the National Directorate for Iraqi Women, recently concluded a two-day training workshop for women members of the Iraqi Council of Representatives. The workshop, themed 'Supporting Women's Political Participation,' aimed to bolster the capacity of women parliamentarians in legislative, oversight, and financial functions. A significant outcome was the strengthening of financial oversight capabilities, enabling participants to analyze budget allocations against actual spending and identify optimal intervention points in the budget cycle. This is particularly crucial for maternal and child health, where informed parliamentary oversight can safeguard funding for essential services.
