Ukraine Secures Oil and Military Support from Gulf States Amid Fuel Shortages
Ukraine has finalized 10-year security cooperation agreements with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, and is negotiating similar deals with Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain. These agreements involve Ukraine providing military support, particularly in drone warfare, in exchange for oil and diesel supplies. This arrangement comes as Ukraine faces significant fuel shortages due to Russian attacks on its fuel depots. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that these agreements will help secure enough fuel for the next year, addressing the country's reliance on foreign suppliers for 85% of its fuel needs. The agreements also include the deployment of Ukrainian anti-drone units to the Middle East to assist in countering Iranian drone threats.
