Study Finds Aerobic Exercise Most Effective for Knee Osteoarthritis Relief
A comprehensive study published in The BMJ has identified aerobic exercise as the most effective form of physical activity for alleviating symptoms of knee osteoarthritis. The research analyzed 217 clinical trials involving over 15,000 participants to determine which types of exercise best improve pain, movement, and quality of life for those with the condition. Aerobic activities such as walking, cycling, and swimming were found to significantly reduce knee pain and improve physical function in both the short and long term. The study suggests that these exercises enhance blood circulation and joint lubrication, which help reduce inflammation and strengthen muscles around the knee.
