Governor Gianforte Launches Fifth Annual Youth Hunting Story Contest in Montana
Governor Greg Gianforte has announced the opening of the fifth annual Governor's Youth Hunting Story Contest in Montana. This contest invites Montana youth and apprentice hunters, aged 10 to 17, to submit stories of their hunting experiences across the state. Participants are required to submit a story of no more than 500 words along with a photo from their hunt. Eligibility criteria include being a Montana resident and holding a valid hunting or apprentice hunting license. The contest accepts entries detailing the harvest of any legal game, furbearer, or bird within Montana. Since its inception five years ago, the contest has aimed to celebrate young Montanans engaging in outdoor activities, creating memories with family and friends, and upholding the state's hunting heritage. The governor has previously recognized young hunters for stories that highlight memorable first hunts, time spent with mentors, lessons learned in the field, and the traditions integral to Montana's way of life.
