Southwest Heat Wave to Bring Record Temperatures Above 115°F
A dangerous heat wave is intensifying across the western United States, with temperatures expected to exceed 115°F (46°C) in cities like Las Vegas and Phoenix. The National Weather Service has issued extreme heat watches, warnings, and advisories for areas including the L.A. Basin, Salt Lake City, and the Great Basin. Death Valley, known as North America's hottest location, may see temperatures nearing 125°F (51.6°C). This heat wave is part of an already record-breaking summer, with cities such as Phoenix experiencing 12 days in July with temperatures at or above 110°F (43°C). The heat is expected to persist through the first week of August, with little relief during the evenings as lows may only drop into the 90s (32-37°C).
