Temple University Partners with Philadelphia Youth Basketball to Launch Workforce Training Hub
Temple University is supporting Philadelphia Youth Basketball (PYB) in the development of 'The Generator,' a new 40,000-square-foot facility in Philadelphia. This center will focus on career development, workforce training, entrepreneurship, and economic mobility for young adults aged 18-29. The initiative aims to prepare individuals for careers in industries currently facing labor shortages, such as carpentry, HVAC, electrical work, and healthcare. The Generator is an expansion of PYB's existing 'Kinder to Career' pipeline, which provides youth development programs from kindergarten through young adulthood, including academic support, financial literacy, and career readiness. The project was announced at a kickoff event at PYB’s Alan Horwitz Sixth Man Center, attended by community members, elected officials, and media.
